We genuinely want to get to know you. Please get to know us!

What we believe.

God

There is only one true God, manifesting in three persons: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. There are none above God, He is the creator of all things and sustains His creation. Romans 8.22-25 Ephesians 1.13-14

Jesus Christ

God’s one-of-a-kind (John 3.16 “monogenes”) son. Born of a virgin (Luke 1.35) and lived in the flesh (John 1.1-16) using miracles to confirm his Divinity to the world. He died as a perfect sacrifice for our sins (Hebrews 10.10). He raised from the dead by His own divine power and ascended into heaven, standing at the right hand of God as our mediator (1 Timothy 2.5).

Holy Spirit

Equal with the Father and Son, the Spirit makes us aware of our need for Christ and the salvation He offers (John 16.8-11). He dwells in and empowers believers (1 John 4.13). He acts as a seal/reminder to those saved that they are God’s children (2 Corinthians 1.21-22)

Salvation/Baptism

God desires for all humanity to be saved (1 Timothy 2.4). Jesus died and resurrected for our sins (1 Corinthians 15.1-4). The key to accepting this salvation is found in baptism, (“immersion” baptizo). Practiced and understood by the New Testament church. Acts 2.37-39, Galatians 3.26-27, Colossians 2.12, Romans 6.3-4, Acts 16.31-33,

Christ’s Church

Established by Jesus Himself in Matthew 16.18. A body of saved believers that gathers with the intention of being: edified by the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16-26), a better disciple through learning how to apply Jesus’ teachings into daily life (Luke 9.23), and seeking to reach and save the lost (those without Jesus and the above salvation discussed). The Bible only speaks of one church (Ephesians 4:1-16).

The Bible

The final authority on everything we do and believe. It is “breathed out” by God (2 Timothy 3.16) and grammatically states its truths (John 17.17). Meaning, it is not up to anyone’s interpretation (2 Peter 1.20).

Eldership

Bobby Bransford

Bobby Bransford

My name is Bobby Bransford. I am an elder here at the Lafayette Church of Christ and have been for fourteen years. I became a christian when I was a teenager and later attended M.T.S.U. I graduated from there with a B.S. and Master’s degree in education. I worked in the Macon County school system for over forty years. That entire time I was at the Junior High as either a teacher, coach, or administrator. I truly enjoyed working with the students. I’ve been married to a loving, Christian wife, Regina, for almost forty years. We have a son and daughter that are now married with their own families. We now have six loving, grandchildren, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law. My son and son-in-law are both preachers in Christ’s church. This is one of the biggest blessings in my life: to see that God’s word is spread to all people.

God has truly blessed me in helping to do God’s work. I’m blessed to be able to help people spiritually as well as meeting physical needs. The highlight of my week is when the saints gather to worship our Lord. One of my favorite Bible verses is found in Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

This verse assures us that through God’s help in these troublesome times, blessings will be gained from the situations we endure. I truly believe my life is a blessing. My church family is a blessing. Always put God first and everything else will work out.

Barry Doss

Barry Doss

I am a lifelong member of the Lafayette Church of Christ, and I was baptized in 1976. My wife, Martha, and I were married in 1993, and we have 3 adult Christian children: Eli, Jacob, and Lydia. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and most often we find ourselves enjoying the outdoors. Some of our favorite activities are hunting, fishing, boating & traveling to new places.

I shepherd by teaching, working with the youth, helping those in need and being involved in the endeavors of the church. I strive to be an elder that is approachable and eager to listen to concerns and troubles of the flock.

My favorite verse in the Bible is Joshua 24.15 “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”I long to be that same type of strong leader that Joshua was to his family and to all that believed.

I’ve been a member of Lafayette Church Of Christ pretty much all of my life. I was baptized on August 19th 1987. I’ve been married for 22 years. I am a logistics supervisor for the Kroger company. I have worked for the company for 23 years.

One of my favorite bible verses is 1 Corinthians 15.58

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Kyle Sircy

Hey everyone!  My name is Kyle Sircy.  I'm married to Rachel Sircy and we have 2 incredible kids - Lane & Grace Sircy.  When I'm not at church or work, there's a really good chance that I'll be at a soccer field, basketball gym, in the woods, or at the golf course.  We are super active and busy, but we are so blessed to be able to spend so much time together.

I'm a proud alumni of Macon County High School (graduated in 1997) and Tennessee Tech University (BA in Accounting - 2001).  Yes, I'm basically a nerdy bean-counter.

We'd love for you to worship with us at Lafayette!  I can assure you that no one in our church is perfect, but we strive to follow the One that is.  Let us show you who He is!

I have several verses that I love, but one of my favorites is Galatians 2:20: I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Our Ministry Team

Cameron Miller - Pulpit Minister

Where do I even begin? If I haven’t met you yet, my name is Cameron, and I have the best job in the world. I get to connect with people and spend my time talking about Jesus. My wife, Sarai, and I love these people and are trying our best to tailor God’s given gifts to impacting the lives of our congregation and this community. One main scripture that fuels my ministry is 2 Corinthians 3:4-6, I would encourage you to read it. While you have it open, might as well read the whole book, it is my favorite in the Bible!

As far as “about me”, I graduated from Freed-Hardeman University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Bible {emphasis in Preaching, Ministry, and Youth Ministry} and a Master’s Degree of Divinity, also from Freed-Hardeman.

If I am not at the church building, I am either at Macon Iron (the gym off of the court square- to be honest I’m not up there as much as I used to be, but I’m going to leave this up here anyways for the sake of accountability); throwing frisbee with our Australian Shepherd (Everett Ulysses- his name is a movie reference, bonus points if you can tell me which movie); woodworking; figuring out some house project for Sarai (I distinctly remember having to pause sanding on our old hardwood floors to go take the picture to the left), or going on walks with my best friend (Sarai).

What would I want you to know about Lafayette? We’re a family. A scripture-loving, God-fearing family, that always has room for one more.

Feel free to send me a Facebook friend request, the link to my profile is below!

Matt Shouse - Associate Minister

Hello to everyone on the interwebs! My name is Matt and I am glad that you are here.  In fact, I hope you will join us in person so I can actually shake your hand and introduce myself the old-fashioned way. For those that already know me and are asking themselves: ‘how in the world did he become a minister?’, the only answer I can give you is Jesus. Though I am far from perfect, I will be the first to tell you that once you encounter Jesus, everything changes. The verse that guides my ministry most is Jeremiah 20:9.

Cameron says I had to have this ‘about me’ portion on the website, so here it goes. I have a Master’s in Theological Studies from Lipscomb University and I am married to the most wonderful human being. I totally “outkicked my coverage” as the young folks would say. We have 3 amazing children (Jonah, Carter, and Maddie), who all got their good looks and intelligence from their mother.

I love to watch movies at the theater with my family, watch my kids play sports, and do pretty much anything that requires solving puzzles (escape games, strategy board games, etc.).

As you can tell, I try to keep things lite and humorous, but in all seriousness, I hope you will come and be a part of our worship so you can see what we mean when we say ‘gather, grow, go’.

Paul Wisdom - Youth Minister

Hi, I’m Paul! I am the Youth Minister here at Lafayette. My family and moved here in January 2022.

My wife and I have been married for 4yrs and have 4 AWESOME kids, from a senior in high school to the youngest in diapers. I have a degree in Bible with emphasis on Youth and Family Ministry from Heritage Christian University and a Master of Ministry with emphasis in Minsterial Counseling. While my training in ministerial counseling is with all ages, my passion is working with teenagers. If I can help your teen in any way, reach out to our church office and we can get something scheduled!

When I’m not at the office or hanging out with our AWESOME teens from church, I love spending time with my family and watching Tennessee football! Go VOLS! I also enjoy fishing and camping during the summertime.

We are so excited to be here at Lafayette and would love for you to be here too!

“The people of Lafayette Church of Christ are ones you’ll want to call to celebrate each of the joys in life with, and the ones you’ll call when you just need a shoulder to lean on. They are some of the most loving, caring, and wonderful people you’ll meet. They’re a home away from home...”
